Wild cat mistaken for leopard near Miyapur Metro Station, clarify officials

HYDERABAD: A viral video claiming that a leopard was roaming near the Miyapur Metro Station in Hyderabad caused widespread panic among residents. The video, which showed an animal walking near the busy area, left locals concerned about their safety.

Forest officials quickly intervened and clarified that the animal seen near the metro station was not a leopard but a wild cat. This clarification brought relief to worried city residents.

The wild cat, although larger than a typical house cat, can often be mistaken for a leopard from a distance due to its appearance and behaviour. It is common for such confusion to arise, as wild cats exhibit similar movement patterns to leopards. The sighting led locals to contact the police and forest officials, fearing a leopard might be on the loose.
