Yellow alert: Heavy rains in Telangana for next three days

HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Yellow Warning' predicting heavy rains in some parts of Telangana and scattered rains with thunder and lightning for the next three days, beginning from Saturday.

According to IMD, from September 1, conditions were favourable for rain with lightning and from Saturday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are very likely to occur in isolated locations in Telangana districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Janagon and Siddipet districts on Saturday.

The IMD also warned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely to occur in isolated places in Telangana on Sunday. Heavy rain is very likely to occur in isolated locations in Telangana districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Siricilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Kamareddy on Monday and Tuesday.

With regard to Hyderabad’s forecast, the IMD said that there would generally be a cloudy sky, which would remain in place until Monday, highlighting the likelihood of moderate to heavy showers during this period. Meanwhile, the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) had forecasted that the State would receive heavy rains as the south west monsoon is all set to gain strength due to a cyclonic circulation.

Taking to Twitter, T Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman said, "Powerful storms pick up early in the morning in Telangana with Mulugu, Bhadradri having strong downpours further moving into Bhupalpally later into Peddapalli, parts of Mancherial. Light rains ahead in Warangal, Mahabubabad. More storms will come later in the afternoon."
