HYDERABAD: YSR Telangana Party President YS Sharmila on Tuesday said that she would resume her padayatra in Telangana from January 28. The padayatra will take off on its resumption at Narsampet, the place where it was stopped by the police in November.
YS Sharmila, who tried to stage a protest at Pragati Bhavan after her padayatra was stopped, was arrested and then set free on a court order under dramatic circumstances. She also sat on a hunger strike briefly against the police action against her yatra and her followers. Her fast was eventually foiled by the police who forcibly shifted her to a hospital.
The YSRTP chief said that she would resume the padayatra from where it was stopped. YS Sharmila has so far covered 3,000 km in Telangana as part of her padayatra and is expected to walk 1,000 km more.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, she also expressed her anguish over the delay in probing the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, which she termed as a matter of shame for the law and order machinery. “How can a case be kept pending for so many years? People will start losing trust in the system if such things happen.” She also said that she would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi if she was given the appointment. If not, she will write a letter to the Prime Minister on his paternal uncle’s murder case.
She also attacked Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and his new national political outfit Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). She said that KCR did not do anything for Khammam or the State.
YS Sharmila said that she would be contesting from Paleru in Khammam district and exuded confidence about her victory.
