All set for kite & sweet festival at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad from Jan 13 to 15
During Sankranthi festival, kite flying is the tradition in Telangana region and varieties of kites will be flown in the sky by people of all age groups
HYDERABAD: During Sankranthi festival, kite flying is the tradition in Telangana region and varieties of kites will be flown in the sky by people of all age groups and also traditional Rangoli with Gobbemma will be displayed across the State. Many delectable sweets and snacks will also be prepared during the festival.
➢ To revive the glory of kite flying, the Telangana Tourism organized International Kite & Sweet Festival at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad during 2018, 2019 & 2020 by inviting various international and national kite-flyers.
Government of Telangana has decided to organise “International Kite & Sweet Festival, 2024” from January 13 to 15, 2024 at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad. It is an exciting 3-day festival celebrated with fun and fervor which coincides with Makara Sankranti festival, a harvest festival. The festival brings together regional arts, crafts, cuisine and an array of national and international kites.

The kite festival will have participation from 16 countries like Indonesia, Switzerland, Australia, Sri Lanka, Canada, Cambodia, Scotland, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Italy, Taiwan, South Africa and Netherlands having international and 50 national kite flyers and a special night-flying event is scheduled. Different types of kites with huge sizes will be flown during the festival thus making the sky more colourful. Various cultural programmes will also be organized promoting the local culture of the State. Apart from the kite festival, Sweet festival is also being organized, food courts with various cuisines of Telangana, handicrafts and handlooms stalls will be showcased.

The citizens of Telangana and other parts are hereby invited to witness the enthralling experience of kite flying and cherish the delicious sweets & snacks during the three days. Entry is free for all to witness the event at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad.
The frequency of Metro Rail and TSRTC bus services are increased during the three days period. The public are requested to utilise the said public transportation.
