AMARAVATHI: After a backlash from the Andhra Pradesh Court, which dismissed the Amaravati farmers' petition against GO on R5 Zone on Friday, the farmers moved the Supreme Court again seeking a stay on the AP High Court's order on the allotment of houses to the poor in the R-5 zone in CRDA limits and to cancel the state government's orders.

The farmers had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court alleging that the state government had brought the GO against the Amaravati master plan. However, AP High Court dismissed the petition. A bench headed by the Chief Justice of the State High Court gave the directions allowing the government to go ahead with the distribution of house sites adhering to the High Court verdict. The farmers filed an SLP in the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict.

The farmers of Amaravati filed a petition in Supreme Court on the same issue in the past wherein the Supreme Court advised them to wait until the High Court verdict and later appeal the Apex court. Hence, farmers of Amaravati have filed a petition challenging the order of the State High Court to this extent while the matter would be up for hearing before the bench of Chief Justice Justice DY Chandrachud on Monday morning.
