HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh High Court which heard the petitions of the exhibitors and Book My Show against the online movie ticket system made it clear that the current system should be continued.
The Andhra Pradesh Film, Television, and Drama Development Corporation has made arrangements to sell movie tickets online through a portal.
The officials said that this portal will be made available to provide entertainment at a low price by putting an end to the black ticket system. It is explained that there will be only a 1.95 percent service charge on the price, if the ticket is booked through this system.
The government has made it clear that existing contracts with other online portals will not be terminated. In addition to the portals currently under contract, the government has said that the audience can also book tickets through the new system brought by the government.
It was against this backdrop that exhibitors and Book My Show representatives filed petitions in the High Court. The court announced its decision on the matter putting a stay on the process of online movie tickets and suspended the GO.69. The court adjourned the case to May 27.
