NIZAMABAD: A bank heist at Bussapur village in Mendora mandal of Nizamabad district came to light on Monday, a day after the incident.
The robbers attacked the Telangana Graneena Bank branch by braking open the shutters with the help of iron rods. They opened the strong room with the help of gas cutters and gained entry.
They decamped with a cash of Rs. 7.30 lakh and booty, including gold ornaments, worth Rs. 3.50 crore.
Upon arrival, the bank staff were shocked to find the doors open with gas cutters and the property missing. The police pressed CLUES team into service and collected the samples of finger prints.
While the police were suspecting an interstate gang behind the robbery, they were yet to ascertain whether the bank heist occurred on Saturday or Sunday.
The thieves smashed the sensors of the alarm before committing the robbery. They reportedly used masks while entering the bank and they also took away the digital video recorder of the closed-circuit camera system.
The Nizamabad Police Commissioner K R Nagaraju visited the scene of offence. The l bank heist caused a sensation and the police formed special teams to nab the culprits.
