HYDERABAD: Former minister T Harish Rao criticised the Congress party for coming to power with false promises. He stated on Wednesday that the government would soon have to give up on their six guarantees.
Rao spoke at a preparatory meeting for the Parliament elections of Nagarkurnool, where he congratulated all the participants and expressed his confidence in the party's future. Despite the BRS party's defeat in the Assembly elections, Rao urged his party members not to be discouraged and to continue fighting for the aspirations of the people.
Rao pointed out that Congress governments typically did not last for more than five years due to their anti-people activities. He accused the Congress government of making fraudulent promises and using unnecessary issues to delay the implementation of their promises. He cited the example of the Congress government in Karnataka, which failed to implement their guarantees due to a lack of funds. Rao stressed the importance of winning parliamentary elections and having strong representation in Delhi for the benefit of Telangana.
He criticized the central government for not granting national status to the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project despite it being promised in the manifesto. Rao accused Congress leaders of cozying up to BJP leaders and trying to defame the BRS party. He highlighted the NITI Aayog's praise for Telangana's economic progress and the significant reduction in poverty rates due to the efforts of former Chief Minister KCR.
Rao also criticized CM Revanth Reddy's team for discussing the state's debts during their visit to Davos, stating that it would discourage investments. He expressed confidence that his party would continue to voice their concerns after 100 days of Congress government, which promised to deliver.
