HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Tarakarama Rao on Saturday claimed that only regional parties like the BRS could defeat the BJP and not the Congress. "Opposition's INDIA Bloc has started disintegrating and except Himachal Pradesh, the Congress has no presence in North India. Therefore, Lok Sabha elections will be a fought between regional parties like the BRS versus the BJP," he said.
Addressing a meeting with the BRS minority leaders from across the State at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, KTR said that the major parties like the Trinamool Congress of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, the Aam Aadmi Party of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and others have drifted away from the INDIA block and the recent deletion was Bihar CM Nitish Kumar who rejoined the BJP-led NDA. Therefore, the INDIA block was now confined to the Congress and a few parties. However, the Congress was not in a position to defeat the BJP. It had recently lost its governments in Rajasthan and Chattisgarh and could not make a comeback in Madhya Pradesh, he said.
"The political map of India will clearly show that only regional parties are fighting against the BJP, not the Congress," he said.
He alleged that by damaging the BRS, the Congress was trying to create a space for the BJP in Telangana. If there was no BRS, then BJP would either become the main opposition or rule the State. "In order to stop the BJP's communal politics and its growth in Telangana, people should support the BRS by rejecting the Congress party," he said.
KTR said it was the BRS which defeated top BJP leaders in Telangana in Assembly elections. The BRS defeated BJP's 3 sitting MPs (Bandi Sanjay, Dharmapuri Arvind and Soyam Bapu Rao), two sitting MLAs (Eatala Rajender and Raghunandan Rao) and gave a tough fight to the BJP MLA in Gosha Mahal. No top Congress leader even campaigned in these seats. Congress was a distant 3rd in all those seats," he said.
He predicted that the Congress would repeat the pattern of fielding weak candidates to ensure the BJP's victory in the Lok Sabha elections. "The Congress has no strong candidates to defeat the Telangana BJP's bigwigs. Only the BRS can defeat BJP candidates across Telangana. Therefore, voting for the Congress will be like voting for the BJP," he said.
KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy Govt was working in close coordination with PM Modi. Citing instances, he said on December 26, 2023 Revanth Reddy met PM Narendra Modi in Delhi. After 10 days, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani's son Karan Adani visited Hyderabad to meet CM Revanth Reddy. One week later, Gautam Adani met Revanth Reddy in Davos to announce investment of Rs 12,400 crore in Telangana. This is not Adani's mega entry into Telangana, but the BJP's chief patron's entry into our State," he said.
"On one hand, Rahul Gandhi calls Adani a stooge of Modi and anyone supporting Adani, the B-Team of Modi. On the other hand, Congress Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomes Adani with a red carpet. This clearly shows who is the B-team of the BJP and Adani. Adani is the binding factor between the BJP and the Congress," he said.
Citing another instance, he said on January 4, Revanth Reddy met Union Minister Amit Shah. A few hours later, the Election Commission announced the schedule for by-elections to fill two MLC seats by making a twist that separate polling will be held for both the seats. The additional MLC seat came as the first gift from Modi to Revanth Reddy, he alleged.
Citing other instances, KTR pointed out that the BJP's Central government kept rejecting Telangana's Tableau for three years. But this year, on Revanth Reddy's request, the BJP permitted the Tableau on Republic Day. Proposal for the Mehdipatnam Skywalk sent by the BRS Government was kept pending for several years. But on Revanth Reddy's request, the BJP Government cleared the proposal, he said adding that those instances were a clear indication that Revanth Reddy is enjoying the patronage of PM Modi.
"In ideology and policies, the Congress Government in Telangana is a replica of the BJP Government. Any vote in favor of the Congress will benefit the BJP in Lok Sabha polls. People should understand the unholy nexus between the BJP and Congress," he said.
He said the BRS victory in Lok Sabha elections was necessary for continuance of raising Telangana's issues in the Parliament. He pointed out that BRS MPs had asked 4,754 questions in the Parliament while MPs belonging to the Congress and the BJP raised only 1,271 and 190 questions respectively.
