HYDERABAD: BRS MLA T Harish Rao has advised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to reduce sarcasm in his speeches, learn to deal with situations effectively, and act in a manner that befits his stature as the Chief Minister.

Participating in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the Governor's Address in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Friday, Harish Rao urged the Chief Minister to refine his approach towards addressing issues. He emphasised the importance of dealing with matters seriously and maturely, discouraging the use of mere rhetoric reminiscent of an outdated gramophone.

Harish Rao emphasised that the conferment of the Bharat Ratna on the late Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao should be a moment of pride for all citizens of Telangana. He stated that the Centre's decision was based on a unanimous resolution passed in the Telangana Legislative Assembly during the previous BRS regime. He suggested that the House pass a unanimous resolution expressing gratitude to the Centre.

The BRS MLA acknowledged the timely payment of salaries to government employees on the first of this month as a positive development. However, he pointed out that salaries were yet to be disbursed to contractual, outsourcing, IKP, and other employees. Additionally, he noted that pensions for January had not been disbursed, with their distribution commencing in February.

He highlighted that the previous BRS regime used to disburse Rs 6,000 crore on the first day of each month, contrasting it with the current Congress Government, which has paid a lesser amount and needs to clear more dues.

Harish Rao alleged that Revanth Reddy lacks understanding of the struggles and hardships faced by Telangana statehood activists. He said Revanth Reddy never visited the families of Telangana martyrs. He cautioned against Congress leaders attempting to act as spokespersons for martyrs, emphasizing their minimal contribution to the statehood movement. Additionally, he alleged that some leaders now in power used to threaten the activists during the statehood movement.

Accusing the Chief Minister of misleading the public on the SLBC tunnel issue, Harish Rao refuted Revanth Reddy's claim that only one and a half kilometres had been dug so far. He asserted that 11 kilometres of tunnel had been dug during the BRS regime and urged the Chief Minister to fact-check before speaking in the House.

Addressing the alleged occupation of Nagarjuna Sagar by the Andhra Pradesh Government on election day, Harish Rao demanded that Telangana regain control of Nagarjuna Sagar. He presented documents to Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, asserting that the Congress Government had agreed to hand over Telangana's projects to KRMB. He questioned why the number of employees and their salaries were mentioned in the meeting if the project had not been handed over to the Centre.

He expressed disappointment that two months had passed without any efforts from the Congress Government to regain control of Nagarjuna Sagar. Harish Rao recounted that during the BRS regime, several conditions were laid for handing over the control of projects to the KRMB. "funds were allotted for the maintenance of projects through KRMB, but not a single rupee was released as the Centre did not agree to our conditions," he said.
