HC notices to Akbaruddin Owaisi in Nizamabad hate speech case
The appeal has been set for December 12, 2022 for its hearing by Telangana High Court Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Friday issued a notice to Akbaruddin Owaisi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) floor leader in state Assembly, in connection with an appeal filed against his acquittal of the Nizamabad hate speech case of 2012 by the Nampally special sessions court.
Senior advocate K Karuna Sagar filed the criminal appeal on August 18, 2022 which was listed for Friday (October 14). The appeal has been set for December 12, 2022 for its hearing by Telangana High Court Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan.
Akbaruddin Owaisi was acquitted of all charges related to the two hate speeches that he was accused of delivering in December 2012. The special sessions court for the trial of MPs/MLAs in April 2022 ruled that the prosecution's evidence was insufficient and acquitted Owaisi, granting him the benefit of the doubt.
