HYDERABAD: Even as the State Government is gearing up to unveil a gigantic statue of Dr B R Ambedkar marking his 133rd birth anniversary, Hyderabad woke up to heavy rains and thunderstorms in many parts. While South and East Hyderabad remained unaffected, North and West Hyderabad experienced very heavy rains with thunderstorms.
Some important and arterial roads were choked with water. It was a moderate to traces in some other parts of the city. The skies were overcast since Thursday evening, while it rained heavily in some parts.
Indian Meteorological Department in Hyderabad issued a Yellow warning in the city up to April 17.
Many parts of the city and Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad and Mahbubnagar districts are expected to experience rain while its dry in other districts.
The rains were predicted by Telangana Weatherman Balaji who gives minute to minute updates on Twitter. Most people depend on his prophecy and make their plans.
SUPRISE STORMS formed around 5 am in in Qutbullapur, Alwal, Bowenpally now moved across Kukatpally, Madhapur, Lingampally , Hitech city, Kondapur, Gachibowli, Miyapur. Another storm at Kapra will move into Malkajgiri, ECIL, Neredmet, Sainikpuri.
Balaji says: “This spell is absolutely unexpected one. Expected evening storms, but morning storms were surprising. Yesterday's powerful heat could be the reason for rains, sometimes nature gives surprises.”
The IMD Met Centre in Hyderabad has predicted scattered, moderate and heavy rains up to April 17.
