IMD forecasts more rains in Telangana for next three days

HYDERABAD: Most parts of Telangana are likely to experience light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over the next three days under the influence of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal that is expected to intensify into a depression.
According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over Telangana. The Hyderabad wing of the IMD also warns of extremely heavy rains at some places on August 8 and 9.
During the next 24 hours, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds(30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at a few isolated places over Telangana.
K Nagaratna, Director of IMD, Telangana, said: "Low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts now lies as a 'well marked low pressure area' over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during the next 48 hours and move west-northwest wards across Odisha and Chhattisgarh".
The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Raisen, Seoni, Durg while the centre of well marked low pressure area persists over northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts, she added.
