HYDERABAD: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department of Telangana has promised to fix the roads in Nizampet as soon as the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) works in this area are completed, sources from MA&UD told NewsTAP, taking into consideration the problems residents of Nizampet and nearby residents are experiencing.

Following a NewsTAP report regarding a complaint made by a Nizampet citizen about substandard roads, full of potholes and without streetlights in the Nizampet area, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department and Nizampet Municipal Commissioner responded on Saturday.

In response to NewsTAP's report on poor roads in Nizampet with lots of potholes and poor street lighting, Nizampet Municipal Commissioner B. Vamshi Krishna also made a statement. He claimed that this route leading to the Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering & Technology was closed down as a result of the ongoing Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) following discussions with colony residents and the administration of Vikas School.

Due to the ongoing repairs on this route, commuters were also advised to take a detour through an alternative route.

Residents, on the other hand, said that the alternate road was like a nightmare for commuters and that the original road was far better. A resident claimed that all Nizampet roads should be featured in an exhibition.

Many locals bombarded the Nizampet commissioner with complaints about a number of other civic issues in Nizampet and the neighbouring areas after reading his response to the NewsTAP report.

Another resident, Jagadish, questioned how long it would take to complete the ongoing SNDP work. In March 2022, the GHMC dug an 8-foot-deep trench from the main road to the Vikas School. Despite the fact that it has been months, no one in the government has taken responsibility for closing the trench. As hundreds of school buses pass through this route, lives of 3,000 children are endangered.

Numerous surrounding communities, including Pragati Nagar, Ameenpur, Bachpally, Kukatpally, and Simhapur colony, have heard complaints from their residents.

Surender Uplanchiwar, another resident, tweeted, "Not only one case, but several cases have been reported, yet we have yet to receive an Action Taken Report (ATR) from your staff." None of the problems reported last month were fixed. When will all of these issues be resolved, he asked Nizampet Mayor Neela Gopal Reddy.

NewsTAP will continue to be a voice for civic issues and other problems the citizens of Hyderabad face. People can tweet to @newstapofficial with #CivicProblem and their area name.
