HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K Chandrashekar Rao entered into Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday after a long hiatus.

KCR was welcomed by BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR). He went up to the car before KCR alighted and as soon as the former Chief Minister alighted, he was given his hand-stick to walk.

KCR last visited Telangana Bhavan on the day when he had released the BRS manifesto for the 2023 Assembly elections and handed over B Forms to 51 contestants.

The party activists raised slogans and cheered KCR lustily. Jai Telangana, Jai KCR, KCR CM, slogans rent the air.

The two States have been squabbling on the river water sharing.

In 2015-16, only for that year, the Telangana Government agreed 299 TMC feet of water as against the 522 TMC feet for Andhra Pradesh on the basis of proportionate distribution of water from the allotted quota of 811 TMC to the undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana had agreed to extend the allocation by one more year as the projects on the Krishna in Telangana were under construction then.

However, Telangana had begun to refuse the proportion decided and demand 50 percent of the quota.

Ever since, the issue became knotty and the Jalshakti Ministry constituted the KRMB and also Godavari River Management Board for overseeing the distribution of water.

As tensions escalated between the two States, Andhra Pradesh government deployed police force to take control of the portion of Nagarjunasagar dam and relesmased water into the downstream.

The Congress Government recently agreed to hand over the management of projects under the Krishna to the KRMB.

Against this background, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy blamed the KCR Government for the handover the projects, while the BRS stoutly retorted saying that the Congress Government was misleading the people by presenting half truths.

KCR will be addressing a massive public meeting on February 13 at Nalgonda and launch his agitation for protection of Telangana rights.
