KCR grabs 'cut-the-diamond' op: 75 years of I-Day

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has directed officials to organise the "Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsawalu" (Diamond Jubilee celebrations of India Independence Day) in a grand and majestic manner that exalts people with patriotic fervour and inspiration from the freedom struggle for two weeks.

CM KCR urged everyone, from students in schools to employees, higher officials, people representatives, youth, and the entire Telangana community, to join in the celebrations with zeal. The CM has directed that national flags be distributed free of charge to all 1.20 crore homes in the state.

A high-level meeting with the Committee headed by K Keshava Rao and other top officials was held at Pragati Bhavan as part of the execution of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations from August 8 to 22 under the 'Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsava Dwisaptaham' organised on the eve of the completion of 75 years of Indian Independence.

CM KCR reviewed the day to-day programme being organised as part of Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsava Dwisaptaham 'from August 8 to 22. The CM suggested the measures to be taken to make it a grand success, the prestigious hoisting of the national flag on every house on August 15. CM KCR instructed the officials to start the distribution of flags on August 9. The flag distribution should be taken up by municipalities and gramme panchayats.

Vajrotsavam celebrations will kick off on August 8 on a grand scale.

CM KCR decided to organise the inaugural function of the Vajrotsavam at HICC in Hyderabad. The CM said cultural programmes with freedom spirit, patriotic national songs and Rastriya Salute with army and police bands will be conducted. Later, the opening remarks, the chairman's speech, and CM KCR's special speech on Vajrotsavam and vote of thanks will be in the programme.

The participants in the programme are – Ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs, ZP Chairmen, Mayors, DCCB, DCMS presidents, all districts Rythu Bandhu samithi Presidents, MPPs , Corporation Mayors, Municipal Chairmen, all departments HODs, IAS, IPS , IFS officials in the district headquarters, Army , Air Force, and other Defence Commanders, top officials of the central government organisations and others. The CM decided to organise the inaugural programme with 2000 participants.


A few more decisions were taken at the review meeting by CM KCR.

Steps will be taken for special decoration at bus stands, railway stations, airports, star hotels , hospitals, and shopping malls.

All government buildings and other historical structures were decorated for 15 days with colourful lights.

Competitions for essay writing, elocution, painting, and patriotic song in government and private schools, as well as inter- and degree students.

Teachers and lecturers will organise a poem competition on patriotism.

♦ Patriotic songs on loud speaker during the prayer time in all educational institutions every day.

Screening of Gandhi's film, directed by Richard Attenborough, in all theatres for the students of government and private institutions every day.

Games and sports competitions in the name of the Freedom Cup at village, mandal and state level. Prizes will be distributed to the winners.

♦ Special rallies by students and employees with other communities

CM KCR instructed DGP Mahendar Reddy to take the responsibility for the combined national anthem programme in the entire state on one day during the 15-day celebrations.

CM KCR instructed the cultural department to hold "Mushairas" and "Kavi Sammelanams" on the theme of freedom struggle.

KCR decided to hold a special assembly session. Local body meetings in Gram panchayats, Mandal parishads, Zilla parishads and municipalities will be organized.

CM KCR decided to pay a befitting tribute to the freedom fighters.

CM KCR decided to felicitate the best gramme panchayat, municipality, school, and best former doctor, engineer, police officials, and other officials, as well as artists, singers, and writers.

CMKCR said that a 15-day cultural fete reflecting the freedom spirit will be organised at Ravindra Bahrati in Hyderabad.

Day-to-day programmes are to be organised as part of the Swantantra Bharatha Vajrotsava Dwisapthaham.

August 14 : Special cultural folk programmes will be organised by Samskruthika Sarathi artists in the evening. lighting and a blast of crackers.

August 15 : Independence Day celebrations.

August 16 : Simultaneous national anthem singing across Telangana. Evening poet gatherings, conducting mushairas.

August 17 : Conduct of blood donation camps.

August 18 : Conduct of games and sports events in the name of "Freedom Cup"

August 19 : Distribution of fruits and sweets to inmates in hospitals, old age homes, orphanages, and jails.

August 20 : Conduct of Rangoli competitions to declare patriotism and national spirit.

August 21 : Special Assembly Session. Along with that, a special meeting of other local organizations

August 22 : Diamond Jubilee Closing Ceremony at LB Stadium.
