HYDERABAD: In a shocking development, The Congress party office in Chandur of the Munugodu Assembly Constituency was gutted after it was allegedly set on fire on Monday night. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) condemned the incident and called it a 'heinous act committed by the TRS and the BJP ahead of the Munugode by-election on November 3.

Reacting to the incident, TPCC chief Revanth Reddy alleged that several conspiracies were witnessed even during the previous by-election in the state. He accused both the TRS and the BJP, one ruling the state and the other at the Centre, had colluded to pose challenges to the Congress candidate. The Congress party office in Chandur was said to have been set on fire by members of those two parties, he alleged.

He claimed that their political opponents were resorting to devious methods as they were wary of the popular support that the Congress had received in the constituency. He said that it was unfortunate that the Congress Party's office in Chandur was burnt and destroyed on Monday night, just ahead of his visit to Chandur.

While denouncing the act, Revanth Reddy appealed to the authorities to initiate stringent action against those responsible for this act. He asserted that, even if party offices or buildings were burnt down, the flag of the Congress would continue to fly. Such wicked deeds, he claimed, could not stop the Congress from reclaiming the Munugode Assembly seat.

Revanth Reddy also threatened to swing into a dharna in front of the Nalgonda SP office if the culprits were not apprehended within 24 hours. He declared that there would be protests against the TRS and the BJP all throughout the district. A huge stockpile of campaign material including scarves, posters, banners and other items were reduced to ashes in the incident, he said.

Besides Revanth, several other Telangana Congress leaders also condemned the incident and claimed that it was a clear indication the BjP would lose the election and the Congress would emerge victorious. They asked the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure that the elections are held in a peaceful and free and fair manner.
