HYDERABAD: Works on the new Secretariat building or Telangana are progressing at a brisk pace. The new secretariat is being built at an estimated cost of close to Rs.1,000 crore. The State Government allotted Rs 400 crore for the building in 2020-2021. However, it could not be appropriated owing to Covid. The government sanctioned and Rs. 610 crore on 2021-22 budget. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who had visited the upcoming complex on April 19 this year, wanted everything to be swanky and there should be no compromise on quality of the construction. Touted to be 278-ft-tall, the seven-storeyed structure is going to be iconic and imposing.
Sources say that the Chief Minister is keen on having it completed by Dussehra.
