Online horse race betting racket busted in Madhapur, One held

HYDERABAD: The Madhapur police arrested a person from Ongole on Monday on the charges of conducting online betting of horse races. The accused, identified as Sai Gautham Reddy (27), has been organizing the betting racket from a hotel located in the posh Madhapur area.

Acting on credible information, a team of Madhapur police swooped on Sai Gautham Reddy and apprehended him. The cops seized cash to the tune of Rs 6.2 lakhs and two mobile phones from his possession.

A case has been registered under relevant sections and investigation is going on. There are frequent instances in the city of horse race betting racketeers falling in the police dragnet.

In march this year, the Narsingi police busted a similar racket in Puppalaguda area and arrested one person hailing from Amangal of Rangareddy district. The accused in the case was conducting betting on Whatsapp groups. About Rs 21 lakh in cash, a mobile phone and laptop were seized from him.
