Pawan Kalyan accepts KTR’s challenge on National Handloom Day

HYDERABAD: Marking the National Handloom Day, movie actor and Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan gladly accepted the challenge thrown by Telangana Minister K T Rama Rao, Pawan Kalyan posted pictures of him with weaver's community.

Along with sharing his own pictures, the Jana Sena party chief expressed his admiration for handloom weavers and continued the challenge by further nominating others to shower their love on National Handloom Day.

KTR had earlier initiated a challenge to celebrate the handloom weavers of Telangana. As a token of love, the minister shared photos with the handloom weavers on his Twitter account and further nominated Anand Mahindra, chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra, Sachin Tendulkar and Pawan Kalyan to continue the string.

Meanwhile, KTR also took the opportunity to seek Central government support to develop the Handloom sector in the state. In a letter written to Union Textiles Minster Piyush Goyal, he accused the Centre of not extending the required financial help to the textile industry.

KTR said, "Textile sector provides employment to the largest number of people in the country after agriculture. Ignorance of Modi government towards the sector is very unfortunate."

The Minister also pointed out that the BJP Government's imposing of GST on handloom products was weakening the sector and causing a threat to the welfare of the weaving community. While the TRS Government had always given utmost importance to uplifting the community, Union Ministers should sincerely try extending their help to the weavers across India, he added.
