HYDERABAD: The TSRTC officials have filed a complaint at L B Nagar police station against a woman who abused a city bus conductor in a foul language, slapped and kicked with her foot.

The incident occurred at the crack of the dawn around 5.30 am on January 25 and the light of the day on January 31.

The woman boarded city bus in Route No.72 from Hayathnagar to Afzalgunj in the bus belonging to Hayathnagar-1 RTC depot.

Without any provocation, she began hurling invectives at the conductor and took his photograph and went on using foul words.

However, the conductor kept his cool and after a woman pleaded with her, she alighted the bus.

A passenger video-graphed the entire episode and released it. The video went viral and the based on the posts on social media platform “X”, the TSRTC officials escalated the matter to the police. Rachakonda Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu also responded directing the police to register a complaint against the woman, who was purportedly in an inebriated condition.

The delot manager tweeted: “Highly objectionable behaviour of women passenger when the service Conductor requested to tender requisite change in the early Hours (05.30AM). Lodged complaint in LBNR PS along with video clipping in pen drive as evidence, requesting to initiate Stern action against her.”

Physical brawls among the women passengers and overcrowding of the RTC buses by women passengers became the order of the day across Telangana after the State Government launched free bus travel to women.

The Rachakonda police said that the police received a complaint from Hayathnagar Jalagam Vijay along with a video clipping in a pen drive about the incident.

He said in the complaint that the Government of Telangana introduced free travel in TSRTC to women passengers under "Mahalaxmi Scheme" from December 9, 2023. In this connection as per the instructions from the Head Office, TSRTC conductors are issuing zero value tickets to women passengers duly ensuring availability of Aadhar (or) Original ID Proof with the women passenger concerned.

On January 25, 2024 at 0530 hrs a woman passenger boarded in Hayathnagar Depot-1 RTC Bus with registration No AP 23 Z 0063 at LB Nagar towards Dilsuknagar. On the way, the bus arrived at NTR Nagar, LB Nagar, infront of Indoor Stadium, wherein the said lady passenger assaulted and scolded Hayathnagar Depot-I on-duty Conductor V.Gangadhar, (Employee No. 212376) while asking original identity proof like Aadhar card or to tender exact change as she offered Rs 500 note in the early hours, as the scheme is meant for Telangana domicile only.

“In this regard, she assaulted and abused him in unparliamentary language.”
