Prepare plans zone-wise to prevent flooding of roads: Danakishore

HYDERABAD: Principal Secretary for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Danakishore has directed officials of the GHMC to prepare zone-wise plans for flood prevention during the coming rainy season.
He reviewed the monsoon arrangements with GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, EVDM Director Prakash Reddy, Zonal Commissioners, ENC, CE, Zonal SE, and Irrigation SE on Thursday.
Danakishore said details of colonies prone to flooding during monsoons in GHMC area, details of rehabilitation centers to move the affected people to safe areas should be identified well in advance. He asked the officials to prepare zone wise plan for necessary funds. The plan should contain the details of the annual expenditure. He said people should be made fully aware to avoid accidents due to flood in manholes and catchment areas. Steps should be taken to ensure that manholes above the CRMP road were parallel to the road to avoid accidents.

He told the officials to complete the drainage works before the beginning of the rainy season and also to complete the unfinished works of storm water drains and take steps to ensure that there was no trouble to the people in the coming rainy season. The officials were asked to complete the remaining works in the wake of flood prevention in many colonies due to the development works of the nala undertaken for flood prevention, take steps to complete the works in the municipalities around GHMC in Nala development works.
The ENC was directed to prepare necessary proposals to undertake the second phase of CRMP works as well. There were 101 major, 137 medium, and 92 minor water logging points in the city arrangements should be made to identify these points on the map.
Apart from water logging points, non-working bore wells should also be identified and appropriate measures should be taken to prevent accidents to the public. In the event of flood water stagnation on the road, a sign board should be installed to prevent accidents, and measures should also be taken to install mesh along with warning boards to prevent accidents in the storm water canal.
