Satellite to monitor Godavari water level to help flood-hit people
The Chief Minister reviewed the flow of Godavari from the Sriram Sagar to Kadem project.
HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other officials reviewed the water levels of Godavari on Saturday where Special Secretary Rajat Kumar explained how the water level of Godavari was being monitored through a satellite. This technology would be used to identify flood-prone areas and provide timely help.
KCR has asked officials of all departments to be on high alert for the next few days in view of the continuous rains predicted for next seven days in the State.
KCR said that people from the areas surrounding Godavari needed to be shifted to relief camps and asked officials to make necessary arrangements. He asked for the Medical, Panchayati raj, electricity, municipal and other departments to be available on field. He also said that police personnel, regardless of their rank, had to be on duty.
The Chief Minister enquired about the tanks in the city, including Peerzadiguda, and Jalpally. He sought to know how the electric supply was and whether there were any power outages and the measures of restoration.
KCR asked ministers about the spread of epidemics during the season. He asked for details of the flood into Lakshmi Barrage, Pranahita, Sripada-Ellampalli.
The Chief Minister complemented Health Minister T Harish Rao, and official machinery and Health Director for their services during Bhadrachalam floods. He lauded then measure taken by the officials in effectively preventing loss of lives. Dengue was spreading every five years like an epidemic and steps must be taken to ensure that it's not spread.
Roads and Buildings Minister V Prashant Reddy said the affected highways were being restored immediately.
KCR advised the electricity department to take cue from the recent floods and take steps to prevent the 11KV substations from inundation anywhere.
