KARIMNAGAR: Amid heavy rains and with River Godavari rising with huge inflows, workers of Singareni were trapped in the filter bed of the intake well on the banks of the Godavari at 4 pm on Wednesday. They are very concerned about their safety and wanted rescue measures should be taken soon.
The authorities plunged into action and started rescue operations with a speed boat. However, the boat halted due to a technical snag. The workers are panicking as the water level is increasing by the hour.
The officials said that the bridge leading to Mancherial on the bank of the Godavari is not under any threat and the police personnel stopped the traffic.
On the other hand, the rehabilitation center set up for flood victims in Manthani is submerged. Also, the Manthani police station and houses too are caught under water and those stranded there are waiting for help.
