Srisailam receives huge inflows as floods continue steadily in Krishna

HYDERABAD: With heavy rains in the upper reaches, the flood flow is continuing steadily into the Prakasam Barrage and Srisailam project on river Krishna and Dowleswaram on river Godavari.
The irrigation department officials have stated that the inflow to the Srisailam projects is increasing steadily with an inflow of 3,79,456 cusecs by 6 am on Monday. The inflow includes 2,55,778 cusecs from Jurala Spillway, 26,141 cusecs from Jurala Power House, and 97,536 cusecs from the Sunkesula project respectively.
The water level in the project has touched 884.60 feet against the full reservoir level of 885 feet with 213.4011 TMC ft of water out of a total capacity of 215.807 TMC ft. However, officials have released 3,83,098 cusecs of flood water downstream by lifting the gates. 3,18,410 cusecs from the Srisailam spillway and 62,732 cusecs from the right and left banks of the project were released. The officials expect that the inflow would increase further by Monday evening.
Meanwhile, the inflow and outflow at Prakasam barrage recorded as 3.22 lakh cusecs. On the other hand, the Godavari river is said to be flowing steadily causing an inflow and outflow of 14,44,414 cusecs at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage near Dowleswaram by 8 PM on Sunday. The water level at the Dowleswaram barrage has touched 15.18 feet with second danger warning in force.
The flood coming from Bhadrachalam to Polavaram project is directly released into the sea.
