Telangana: Polling begins for Singareni trade union polls; 13 unions in poll fray

HYDERABAD: Trade Union polls in Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) began on Wednesday under the SCCL coal mines which were spread over 11 Assembly constituencies in erstwhile Adilabad, Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar districts.
The polling began at 7 am and it would continue till 5 pm. As many as 39,775 workers would exercise their right to vote in 11 areas across Singareni. After the completion of polling, counting of votes would commence at 7 pm. The results would be announced after the counting was completed. Elections were being conducted by secret ballot method, said Elections Officer Srinivasulu.
A total of 13 trade unions including five national unions including AITUC, INTUC, CITU, HMS and BMS as well state union TBGKS and others were competing in the polls. According to trade unions, as many as 5404 employees would cast their votes in RG-I about 3,557 employees in RG-II and about 3,884 employees in RG-III in the Ramagundam area. In all, about 12,845 employees under RG-I, II and III would cast their vote in the trade union polls of SCCL.
Under six districts and eleven areas as many as 1,191 employees would cast their vote in corporate, about 23,031 employees in Kothagudem area, as many as 613 employees in Yellandu, about 2,452 employees in Manuguru, about 5,404 employees in Ramagundam-I, about 3,557 employees in Ramagundam-II and about 3,884 employees in Ramagundam-III and about 5,395 employees in Bhupalpally would cast their vote.
Similarly 998 employees in Bellampalli, as many as 4,838 employees in Mandamarri and about 9,149 employees in Srirampur would cast their vote in the trade union polls. The total number of voters strength is about 39,775 and around 84 polling centres were established to ensure smooth conduct of polling.
