Telangana to launch 'Nethana Beema' scheme on August 7

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government is introducing the 'Nethana Beema' scheme to provide financial support to the bereaved families of handloom and powerloom weavers. This scheme will be launched on National Handloom Day on August 7.
According to Minister KTR, the family of the deceased weaver will receive a sum of Rs 5 lakh under this scheme. He also stated that the money would be deposited into the family member's bank account within 10 days of the weaver's death.
"The Telangana government is implementing various welfare schemes to help the weavers community in the state," Minister KTR said.
The Telangana government has reached an agreement with the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) for this scheme. KTR also stated that the Telangana government would pay the premium amount to the LIC and that the weavers would not be required to pay anything.
The State government has allocated Rs. 50 crores for this scheme, of which Rs. 25 crores have already been released. Weavers under the age of 60 are eligible for the scheme. This scheme benefits the families of approximately 80,000 handloom and powerloom weavers.
Minister KTR said that the state and district-level committees would be formed soon for the implementation of the Nethana Beema scheme. The Department of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Telangana, will be the nodal agency for the scheme's implementation.
Under the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the Telangana government is implementing schemes such as the Input Subsidy Linked Wage Compensation Scheme, Thrift Fund for Handloom/Powerloom Weavers and many more for the welfare of the weavers community.
Minister KTR also held a review meeting for the Neethana Beema Scheme and its launch on National Handloom Day on August 7. The officials informed the minister that they were in the process of enlightening the weavers about the scheme. During the meeting, Minister KTR directed the officials on how to successfully implement the scheme.
