TSRTC to procure 2,375 buses in phased manner, says MD Sajjanar

HYDERABAD: TSRTC Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, on Friday announced that a total of 2,375 buses would be made available in a phased manner amid increase in passenger congestion.
Sajjanar made the announcement while participating in the Republic Day celebrations at the RTC Central Office Bus Bhavan in Hyderabad. During the event, he unfurled the national flag.
On this occasion, Sajjanar extended his wishes on Republic Day to all the people supporting TSRTC and the staff who were continuously contributing to the organisation’s development.

Sajjanar emphasised that India had been built on the sacrifices of many individuals and called upon every citizen to contribute to the country's progress. On this auspicious day, he also paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.
As an initiative to instill patriotism in the younger generation, the National Anthem was played every day at 11 am at the Bus Bhavan. The management of TSRTC had now decided to extend this program to include zone and RM offices, as well as depots.
Sajjanar mentioned that the organisation successfully implemented the free bus facility scheme for women within 48 hours of its announcement by the state government. He expressed his happiness to announce that the Mahalakshmi scheme was currently being implemented successfully in 7,200 Palle Velugu, Express, city ordinary, and metro express buses under TSRTC.
He said ghat since December 9, more than 11 crore women passengers had safely reached their destinations, with an average of 27 lakh women using these schemes every day. Sajjanar credited the sincerity and dedication of TSRTC officials and staff for making this possible.
TSRTC MD said that in response to the increased traffic they had decided to procure new buses including 1,325 diesel and 1,050 electric buses will be put into service, totaling 2,375 buses in phases.
Sajjanar said that the recruitment of drivers and conductors for the new buses would be undertaken as soon as possible with the assistance of the government. He mentioned that the process of appointing 813 conductors would begin under the compassionate appointments scheme, and appointment letters would be handed over in Karimnagar.
He said that currently, 80 RTC constables were undergoing training and were expected to join duty in the first week of February.
