TTD hundi grosses Rs. 6.18 crore in a day, highest in 10 years

TIRUPATI: With the devotees flocking to the Tirumala in large numbers in the recent past, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam temple has amassed a record amount of income which has never been seen in history. The temple has received an income of more than Rs.6 crores on a single day on Sunday, which is the highest so far. Earlierit earned Rs.5.73 crores on a single day on April 1, 2012. With the latest income of Rs. 6.18 crores amassed on a single day on Sunday, the old record was broken almost 10 years later.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) issued a statement to this effect on Monday. The TTD counted the revenue submitted in Tirumala Hundi on Sunday and found that donations offered by devotees through hundi amounted toRs.6.18 crores.
It is learned that the Tirumala temple hundi income is crossing Rs.100 crores every month for the last four months. It is to be noted that the highest income of Rs.129.93 crores was received by the temple in May alone. Meanwhile, a large number of devotees are coming from different places. Keeping in view the rush of devotees, the TTD has imposed restrictions on VIP break darshans, which will be in force till the July 15.
