Two intruders break into girls hostel bathroom in OU; one held, students stage protest

HYDERABAD: The incident at Osmania University, where two unidentified individuals forcefully entered the PG girls hostel bathroom, has caused a significant commotion and panic among the students.

However, the students who were warned about the intruders immediately confronted them and managed to apprehend one of the attackers. He was subsequently handed over to the police, while the other managed to escape.

In response to the incident, the students organised a protest in front of the hostel to express their concerns regarding the lack of security measures. They claimed that there were no CCTV cameras installed and demanded their immediate installation. The ongoing student protests have led to a tense atmosphere at Osmania University.

Meanwhile, the university's principal has taken notice of the incident and has initiated an inquiry into the matter. He assured the students that the issue would be resolved promptly and appropriate measures will be taken to enhance security on the premises.

OU registrar assures enhanced security at girls hostel, students call off strike

Osmania University held talks with the agitating girl students and assured them of installing CCTV cameras in strategic locations around the hostel premises to enhance security and also to ensure the safety of students. He said that they would conduct regular patrols by security personnel to monitor any suspicious activities and promptly address any potential threats.

The registrar also said that they would establish a robust communication system within the hostel, including emergency alarms and a dedicated helpline, to provide immediate assistance to the students in case of any security concerns. He said that he would take steps to establish fencing on the backside of the hostel.

With the assurance of the Registrar, the students called off their protest.
