11 students fall sick after eating expired dates in Huzurnagar

HUZURNAGAR: In a saddening incident that happened in Huzurnagar of Suryapet, 11 students of SC Gurukul school fell prey to food poisoning after consuming expired date palms.
Reportedly, a class five student Revanth brought expired and spoiled dates to school. A classmate Pranay took those dates and distributed them among all their friends. "All of us felt sick and started vomiting after 3-5 minutes of eating those dates. We went and told our teacher after which we were brought here," said a student who was admitted to the hospital.
Local MLA Shanampudi Saidireddy visited the students and asked the hospital authorities to provide the best treatment to the children. The doctors, who confirmed that the food poisoning was due to the expired dates, said that the students were recovering.
