An ASI allegedly assaulted a mother-daughter duo after a fight in an RTC bus over sharing of seats in Jagtial
JAGTIAL: An Assistant Sub Inspector of police allegedly assaulted a mother-daughter duo after a fight between the victims and his wife in an RTC bus over sharing of seats in Jagtial on Tuesday. The video of the incident went viral in social media.
According to reports, a Muslim woman and her daughter Sheikh Farha (22) came to Jagtial in an RTC bus. Later, another woman boarded the same bus in Karimnagar and sat next to Sheikh Farha and her mother.
However, a fight broke out between them as the seat was too small to accommodate the three, prompting the third woman to move to another seat. Despite the altercation ending, the woman, who boarded at Karimnagar, went on to threaten the Muslim mother-daughter duo saying that her husband was a sub-inspector and they would pay the price for it.
As soon as the bus reached the bus depot in Jagtial, the woman's husband, Assistant Sub Inspector Anil, and his constable stopped the bus and attacked Sheikh Farha and her mother. While the Muslim girl, who was scared, started a video chat on her phone and dialed her friend's number. Infuriated by this, Anil dragged Farah out of the bus and kicked her.
When a fellow passenger objected to ASI Anil's behaviour, the latter grabbed the girl's broken phone, bus tickets and purse and left the place in a huff. The victims lodged a complaint at the Jagityal Town Police Station.
As there was no action against the culprits, the victims stood at the police station till midnight and demanded criminal action against both ASI Anil and the police constable.
