GUNTUR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha Member and Chilli Task Force Committee Chairman G V L Narasimha Rao had a few anxious moments on Saturday when he faced a threat from the most unexpected quarters. What caused the threat to the leader was a cow that is ironically most revered by the BJP and its affiliated groups.

You heard that right, the Parliamentarian almost received a kick from a cow, an animal usually known for its tolerance. The incident happened after G V L Narasimha Rao inaugurated the office of the Chilli Exporters Association at the market yard in Guntur. Later, the Rajya Sabha Member decided to visit the adjacent 'goshala', the sanctuary for cows and oxen.

Just when he wanted to pamper a cow, it turned hostile and tried to kick the Parliamentarian twice. Luckily, on both the occasions, Narasimha Rao showed his quick reflexes and jumped out of the animal's reach. The video of the incident has since been going viral.

But then, why did the cow see an adversary in the Rajya Sabha Member? There were instant suggestions that it was the saffron scarf he wore which caused all the mischief since it was closer to red, a colour that animals are perceived to react aggressively to.

But then, this is only an unfounded belief as cows and buffalos too are scientifically known to be colour-blind. Whatever is the reason for the wild behaviour of the cow in this instance, everyone heaved a sigh of relief to see the Rajya Sabha Member leaving the goshala unscathed.
