Meanwhile, the railing on the Godavari bridge at Madhavayapalem in Narasapuram town of West Godavari district has collapsed. It is likely that thousands of houses are at risk of submergence, if the river level rises.
The municipal officials are shifting the people to safer places.
People of Ponnapally 1st Ward in Godavari Etigattu area in the town confronted the municipal councilor and officials in panic. The fishermen of Ponnapally are worried that such a situation has arisen only due to the negligence of the municipal authorities.
Godavari flood receded at Dhawaleshwaram Dam in Rajahmundry. Officials are releasing 25.64 lakh cusecs of water into the sea and the water level at the barrage is 21.60 feet. After about 8 days the flood receded but the same situation prevailed in the flooded villages of Lanka.
