ANANTAPUR: The earlier Government under Nara Chandrababu Naidu just cheated people with false promises said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy adding that the only change that made the difference was the person with good intentions as Chief Minister.

Addressing a public meeting at Uravakonda in Anantapur district on Tuesday he said that no one thought about the common man even though it was the same budget, he said. During the Chandrababu regime there was a ‘Dochuko Panchuko Tinuko (rob, share and eat)’ policy,” he pointed out.

Without taking the name of his sister YS Sharmila who took over the reins of the APCC recently, he said that several leaders from the neighbouring State of Telangana had joined the fan club of Chandrababu Naidu and were trying to elevate him. “The Opposition’s agenda is to tie the flags together (stitch alliances). But your Jagan's agenda is to build a temple in the hearts of the people with good governance. You people, the people of Andhra Pradesh are my star campaigners! I don’t need anyone else,” Jagan said.

Reminding the women self-groups about the promise of loan waiver during the 2014 elections by Chandrababu Naidu, Jagan said that the former CM forgot the promise resulting in the accumulation of debt to Rs 25,000 crore burdening the women groups in the State. “Now after YSRCP took over the A and B groups grew by 91 percent and the NPA dropped back to 0.17 percent,” he said.

He said the women groups that the Government reserved 50 percent of nominated posts for women, reserved 50 percent of contract works for women, and provided security to women through the Disha app.

“But the yellow media, the ‘benamies’ of Amaravati, the adopted son of Chandrababu and his sister-in-law Purandheswari who found temporary shelter in BJP won't tell you that. They are more in numbers and many are joining the group. They are all his star campaigners,” Jagan said.

He said that he could achieve women’s empowerment through the direct transfer of money into their accounts. He said that the Government transferred Rs 4,968 crore to women thrift groups and Rs 31,000 cr through a zero-interest scheme.

Earlier, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released the fourth and last round of the YSR Asara financial help scheme for women's self-help groups. “If women are empowered, the state will progress across sectors. We have prioritised women's empowerment in the YSRCP regime. In 56 months, 79 lakh Dwacra sisters were given Rs 25,571 crore for loan repayment. We are ensuring that funds of welfare schemes go directly to the women in the household,” he said.

“Earlier, there your political affiliations were taken into consideration. Janmabhumi committees and local and CM-level corruption were rampant. But in Jagan’s Government, there is quality education to children, there is an increase in real income, social security, and your due share in the political landscape in AP,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said.
