HYDERABAD: Former TDP MLA and 70 others were booked for betting by organising cockfighting on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
While the former MLA and many others fled the place upon noticing the police, 21 others, 26 vehicles and 32 cocks, meant for betting fight, were taken into their custody by the police. The police also seized Rs. 13,12,140 cash.
The police said Prabhakar was conducting betting through cockfighting on the outskirts for quite some time. In fact, this betting is very popular during Sankranti time in Prabhakar's native constituency Dendurluru and Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh.
The police conducte a raid on a garden in Pedakanjerla village under the aegis of Patancheru DSP Bheem Reddy. Some of the organisers including Satish Akkineni were arrested. The police are searching for the other 49 persons.
