I was obsessed with cockfights; Chintamaneni Prabhakar
Cockfights had been made illegal in India since the enactment of Prevention of Cruelty towards Animals Act, 1960.
HYDERABAD: Former Telugu Desam Party MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, who was accused of organising cockfights at Patancheru, has admitted his involvement at a press meet on Friday. He said that he left the place after the police had come and that he had only left the place 'not absconded'. He also said that he was obsessed with the so-called sport.
Cockfights had been made illegal in India since the enactment of Prevention of Cruelty towards Animals Act, 1960.
Chintamaneni said that he had a habit of participating in cockfights and that the outage was over a 'small issue'. He also said that he had participated in cockfights in Karnataka as well and that he was obsessed with them.
Earlier, Chintamaneni had denied the news of his involvement in cockfights in Hyderabad. He said that he was being targetted by political rivals and as they couldn't tear him down politically they chose 'wrong strategies'.
However, he made a volte-face after the police produced a video in which his presence was proved beyond doubt.
The police case is on.
