KTR, Pocharam criticise Congress govt ignoring Medigadda without repairs: Watch live stream of press conference

HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) said that the Congress Government is politicising Medigadda sagging issue only to demolish the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project so fondly built by the BRS Governement to irrigate 50 lakh acres.

Speaking to media at Telangana Bhavan before leaving for Medigadda KTR said on Friday that the visit was aimed at urging the Government to save the farmers and the drying crops by filling up reservoirs under KLIP.

He pointed out that the Government was forgetting its responsibility of saving the Vanakalam c4opping season by delaying repairs to Medigadda. “Please dont show your anger on the farmers. Already reports are coming that crops are drying up 8n many districts.

KTR said that BRS would soon take farmers to barrages and reservoirs of the KLIP to show them how the Congress was using Medigadda to blame the BRS. He said that KLIP was a complex lifting structure comprising of 3 barrages,15 reservoirs,19 substations,21 pump houses,203-km long tunnels,1,531-km long gravity canals,98 km of pressure mains,141 TMC storage and ability to lift and utilise 240 TMC of water.

Srinivas Reddy said that K Chandrashekar Rao undertook construction of Kaleshwaram to save

Telangana from turning into a desert. He said that KLIp helped incraese of paddy production from 67 lakh tonnes to 3.5 crore tonnes.

“If there is damage the Government should undertake remedial measures and start using the project.Congress must repair Medigadda and move forward as only 3 pillars out of 86 were damaged,” he said. He recalled several mishaps during and after construction of projects during the Congress regime.
