Mahankali police of Secunderabad solved two separate cases of child kidnappings in a record span of two hours and rescued the victims

HYDERABAD: In a swift action, the Mahankali police of Secunderabad solved two separate cases of child kidnappings in a record span of two hours and rescued the victims on Sunday. Two accused were arrested in connection with the twin kidnappings.

The news of two children going missing under the Secunderabad and Sultan Bazar police station limits caused commotion. However, leveraging the CCTV footage, the Mahankali police not only traced them and rescued the two children in two hours but also arrested the two accused. The rescued children were later handed over to their parents.

When contacted, Mahankali ACP B Ramesh told Newstap that a complaint was received from a couple that their child, who was sleeping with them on the footpath near Paradise, was kidnapped in an autorickshaw at around 4 am in the early hours of Sunday. Four special teams were formed to trace the identity of the missing child. As part of their investigation, the police have examined the CCTV footage in Secunderabad and Sultan Bazar and found the two persons taking away the child in an autorickshaw.

The accused were identified as Imran, an auto driver and Praveena, who assisted him to kidnap the children. Preliminary investigation revealed that, initially, the accused kidnapped the three-year-old girl sleeping on Paradise footpath and further proceeded to Sultan Bazar. At Boggulakunta, the accused also kidnapped an eight-month-old boy and fled the spot in their three-wheeler. A kidnap case has been registered and the police are investigating the case from all possible angles to ascertain the facts, the ACP said.
