Narayana College draws flak after drunk bus driver falls asleep on road in Pamarru
The management of Narayana Colleges came under fire once again after a drunk driver stopped the college bus on the road and fell asleep on the wayside
KRISHNA: The management of Narayana Colleges came under fire once again on Thursday after a drunk driver stopped the college bus on the road and fell asleep on the wayside near Kanumurru in Pamarru mandal of Krishna district. The incident gave anxious moments to more than 40 students and their parents who took the college management to task for their laxity in ensuring the safety of their children.
It is claimed that the college management allowed driver Balaiah to take the wheel of the bus with students on board despite knowing that he was in an inebriated condition. He reportedly began driving the vehicle erratically on the busy Machilipatnam-Vijayawada stretch of the national highway even as the panicking students kept screaming. With the alcohol influence completely taking him over, the driver pulled the bus over near Kanumurru and fell asleep on the wayside.
The students quickly got down the bus and informed the Narayana College authorities besides their parents. Members of the college management who had rushed to the site, tried to prevent the media from filming the episode. They even restricted the students from interacting with the media.
The negligence of the management of Narayana College caused great inconvenience to the students as well as their parents. Parents of a few students, who came down to pick up their children, spewed venom on the college management for being blatantly negligent. They could not digest the fact that the college management had no qualms in putting the lives of their children in the hands of an irresponsible driver even after knowing that he was fully drunk.
