SIRCILLA: Manair Vagu, a seasonal rivulet, is the lifeline of Sircilla. With the recent rains and water released from Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), all the 10 major check dams on the rivulet are overflowing.
We bring you breathtaking drone visuals of the 61-km-long course of Manair rivulet from Upper Manair Reservoir to Mid Manair Reservoir passing through the once-barren and dried river bed.
Manair rivulet’s water passes through check dams at Narmala village, R&B road, old Yellamma temple, Mallareddypet, Singaram, Padira, Avunoor, Kasbaketkur, Peddur, Sainagar before reaching Mid-Manair Reservoir. One can also see the vast Mid-Manair backwaters and also the Kodurupaka bridge crossing the brimming Manair vagu.
Each one of the 10 check dams is overflowing indicating that the tanks are brimming to the full capacity, helping the farmers to reap a bumper crop with the increased groundwater level. Mid-Manair reservoir is a crucial link in KLIP as it stores 25.873 TMC of water to stabilise 2,20,000 acres of land.
