Two AP district collectors toil hard in paddy field, plant seedlings

ONGOLE: The villagers of Murukondapadu in Bapatla mandal were in for a pleasant surprise on Sunday when the district collectors of Prakasam and Bapatla joined them for work in the paddy fields. The two district magistrates, A S Dinesh Kumar (Prakasam) and Vijaya Krishnan (Bapatla), probably decided to spend their weekend in a way more closer to their roots. But, were not alone on this trip to the agricultural fields. They brought their spouses and children along to hand transplant paddy seedlings along with other workers.

What's more, they had their lunch along with other farm labourers on the wayside, just like the poor peasants do. The two highest ranking officials of the districts going through the hard grind of the daily wage-earners has garnered instant appreciation from all quarters.
