HYDERABAD: A video showing a man being dragged by his parents on the floor due to non-availability of a strecher or wheelchair at the Nizamabad government hospital went viral on various social media platforms on Saturday.
While the incident created outrage among people,
who demanded that the State government improve basic amenities at the State-run hospitals, Hospital Superintendent Prathimaraj denied such incident.
Reponding to the video, she said some persons were indulging in false propaganda against the hospital and tarnishing its image. She said a complaint was already logged with the police.
She clarified the patient was neither admitted as an in-patient nor treated as an out-patient. As the man was addicted to alcohol, his parents dragged him in the hospital unknowingly and they didn’t want to wait till the hospital staff to provide them a strecher or a wheelchair.
According to reports, the man along with his parents came to the hospital on March 31. After completing medical examination in the emergency ward, the hospital staff had to shift him to the general ward.
As the staff was not seen in the vicinity, the parents themselves dragged him on the floor to reach the general ward.
