KURNOOL: In a reflection of how the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case caused rift within the YS clan, Vimala Reddy, the sister of the slain former minister came out in full support of YS Avinash Reddy and questioned Dr Sunitha Reddy’s discretion in carrying out the witch hunt against the innocent while backing the real culprits in the case.

The younger sister of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy came to Kurnool to pay a visit to YS Avinash Reddy’s mother Lakshmamma, who is being treated at the Viswa Bharathi Hospital. The reaction of Vimala Reddy assumes significance at a time when all legal options appear to be fast drying up for the beleaguered YSRCP MP amid speculation that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was all set to act decisively against him.

Speaking to the media on the CBI’s probe and the relentless fight of Dr Sunitha Reddy, the daughter of YS Vivekananda Reddy, Vimala Reddy lamented that it pains to see her niece (Sunitha) standing by the side of those who killed her father. She also expressed her anguish that YS Avinash Reddy was being harassed in a targetted attack against him and asserted that the young MP was not involved in the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy.

“(Shaik) Dastagiri, who openly confessed to killing Vivekananda Reddy is roaming outside, scot free. And innocent people (in reference to YS Bhaskar Reddy and others) have been lodged in jail. How is this fair and appropriate?,” she questioned.

Vimala Reddy also claimed that Dr Sunitha initially told them that no one from their family was behind the murder but later flipped on her own statement. “She stopped talking to us just because we told her that what she was doing was wrong,” the younger sister of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy said.

She also wondered why a section of the media was making a hue and cry about the Kadapa MP. “Hasn’t YS Avinash Reddy appeared for the CBI questioning seven times so far? Why all the fuss now about his inability to attend questioning, which was a result of his mother’s hospitalisation?,” she retorted.

Asserting that YS Avinash Reddy did no wrong, she exuded the confidence that he would eventually prove his innocence and come out clean from the case.
