YS Viveka’s daughter Sunitha joining TDP? Posters spring up in Proddatur
Posters sprang up in Proddatur of Kadapa district in the name of the TDP and featuring slain leader YS Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Sunitha Reddy
PRODDATUR, Kadapa District: In what could be a matter of more embarrassment for the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh, posters sprang up in Proddatur of Kadapa district in the name of the Telugu Desam Party and featuring slain leader YS Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Sunitha Reddy.
The posters, pasted by unidentified persons across the town, claimed that Dr Sunitha Reddy would be taking a plunge into politics. Printed in the trademark yellow colour of the TDP, the posters sought to imply that Dr Sunitha Reddy would be contesting in the next elections on behalf of the principal opposition party. Interestingly, the makers of the posters also chose the pictures of YS Vivekananda Reddy, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, party Andhra Pradesh unit chief Atchannaidu and other leaders, besides a big-size image of Dr Sunitha Reddy.
Since early Tuesday morning, people of Proddatur were greeted with these sensational posters which were prominently displayed at the town’s main road junction in Yerra Munireddy Colony, Homaspet, Municipal Park area and the crossroads of Vivekananda Cloth Market. While the posters became an instant talking point in town, the YSRCP activists claimed that they proved their premonitions of an alleged new-found nexus between Dr Sunitha’s family and the TDP.
Dr Sunitha is currently waging an intense legal fight to seek punishment for the real culprits of her father YS Vivekananda Reddy’s gruesome murder. She and her husband Narreddy Rajasekhara Reddy have been accusing YS Bhaskar Reddy and his MP-son YS Avinash Reddy, their bitter foes within the extended family, of their involvement in the murder. Dr Sunitha’s relentless battle also resulted in the deterioration of their relations with YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who has been stoutly defending YS Avinash Reddy.
It may take a while for the truth to come out on the real intent behind the latest posters. Whether it is the mischief of some anti-YSRCP elements or a part of Dr Sunitha’s new-found proximity, as being alleged in some quarters, to the TDP will only be known when the state inches closer to the polls.
