NTA partially cancels, reschedules CUET-UG exam: UGC Chairman

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled and rescheduled CUET-UG examinations in some centres due to technical glitches, said UGC Chairman M. Jagadish Kumar on Sunday. He pointed out that the cancellation of the test in some centres was done in the best interests of the students.

In a statement, the UGC chairman said, "CUET-UG is a mammoth exercise being conducted by the National Testing Agency." The scale of the exam could be gauged by the fact that the exams were conducted in 61 subjects in 13 languages across the nation. The process had been designed keeping in mind the sanctity of the exams and the interests of the students being paramount. However, due to technical glitches in some of the centres, the rest had to be re-scheduled. At some centres, the centre staff should have shown more empathy with the students. There were also reports and indications of sabotage in the process. NTA immediately swung into action and cancelled and postponed examinations in centres which witnessed such a possibility. Strict action would be taken against anyone involved in wilful sabotage of the process. "

He further said, "More school teachers are being deployed because they have more experience dealing with students with empathy." We are hopeful that the CUET-UG will be conducted smoothly in the coming days as a result of NTA's efforts and corrective actions".

NTA is constantly in contact with the students via email, messaging, and voice mail to keep them up-to-date on the changes. A special email address, cuetgrievance@nta.ac.in, has been established to receive and address students' queries and grievances.
