Pakistan encountered a few stumbling blocks while chasing the formidable target. The opening batsman, Imam ul-Haq, and skipper Babar Azam fell early in the innings. However, Abdullah Shafique and Mohammed Rizwan formed a resilient partnership, amassing 176 runs, which kept Pakistan's aspirations alive. Shafique (113), after crafting an impressive century, was eventually dismissed by Pathirana's bowling. Even after his departure, Rizwan assumed the mantle and ensured that his team sailed to victory. With stellar centuries from both Rizwan and Shafique, Pakistan concluded their innings at 345/4 in 48.2 overs. The match also witnessed a personal best ODI score from Rizwan (131*).
