HYDERABAD: ASPIRE – BioNEST, in association with University of Hyderabad's School of Life Sciences, has organized an expert talk on stem cells and their futuristic use in managing pain.

The talk was delivered by Dr Sairam Atluri, MD, FIPP, founder, StemCures, an FDA-compliant out-patient stem-cell procedure. He is a leading expert in Interventional and Regenerative Medicine and a pioneer of stem cell therapy in the US.

The talk detailed the current state of stem cell therapy in medicine to treat severe lower back pain and knee and disc replacement conditions, globally. While elaborating on the treatment possibilities, Dr Atluri provided a comprehensive understanding of different types of stem cells, their advantages and the feasibility of such treatment procedures. The talk highlighted the vast advantages of using stem cell therapy to address different chronic pain conditions and competitive comparison with conventional invasive surgical procedures.

Dr Atluri discussed the global status of stem cell therapy for treating different chronic conditions like diabetes, liver abnormalities and autoimmune disorders. Dr Atluri also emphasized the importance of safe procedures in using stem cell therapy referring to the adverse examples. Faculty members and students from the School of Life Sciences and School of Medical Sciences at the University of Hyderabad and the start-up staff of ASPIRE incubation centers attended the session and interacted with the speaker.

In the USA, Dr Atluri has developed a proprietary procedure for preparing stem cells on a large scale. With an aim of bringing stem cell therapy to India at an affordable cost, he founded a start-up company in India, Tulsi Therapeutics, which is incubated at ASPIRE BioNEST. Dr Atluri is the son of well-known philanthropist and dentist Padmasri Dr Srimannarayana.
