Choreographer Jani Master released on bail after 36 days in jail
Jani Master was granted bail in a sexual harassment case and released from Chanchalguda Jail.
HYDERABAD: Tollywood choreographer Jani Master was released from Chanchalguda Jail on Friday after securing bail in a sexual harassment case.
Jani was originally arrested on September 20 following allegations from a female dancer who accused him of sexual harassment. His bail was granted by the Rangareddy District Court after 36 days in custody.
The case traces back to an incident in 2017, when Jani Master reportedly met the complainant during a TV show. She alleged that he later assaulted her in a hotel while she was a minor and part of his dance team. Based on her complaint, the Narsingi Police registered a case under IPC Sections 376, 506, and 323, as well as the POCSO Act, and subsequently arrested him, presenting him in court before placing him in remand.
Earlier this month, Jani Master had sought temporary bail from October 6 to 9 to attend the National Film Awards ceremony, which was initially approved. However, following controversy, the awards committee cancelled his invitation. Jani was returned to jail after the temporary bail expired. Later, his petition for regular bail was reviewed and granted by the Rangareddy POCSO Court, leading to his release on Friday.
