VEMULAWADA: Approximately 40 to 50 monkeys were found dead under suspicious circumstances near Shantinagar, within the Vemulawada municipality in Rajanna Sircilla district, on Friday.

Local residents reported a strong foul smell near a real estate site, leading them to the shocking discovery of the animals’ bodies arranged in two heaps.

The locals speculated that the monkeys may have been poisoned and later dumped at the site. Initial estimates indicate that the incident likely occurred around two days earlier. Expressing outrage, Hindu organisations and residents questioned the motive behind killing the monkeys and called for an immediate investigation.

Vemulawada Town Circle Inspector Veer Prasad has initiated a probe into the matter, aiming to determine the cause of death and identify those responsible if poisoning is confirmed. Local groups are urging strict action against anyone involved in the suspected poisoning of the animals.
